I never paid much attention to wood ducks before I spent an afternoon photographing them landing at a pond near me. I didn’t think they were ugly, just bland being mostly brown. That changes, however, when you get to see their plumage when flying, especially when landing like the one pictured here. The streaks of blue under their wings are beautiful; I’m so glad I captured them.
